An Ancient Woodland Coed Pen y Pigyn has been recorded as a woodland site since the 1600’s, which is very unusual for an oak forest so far inland in Wales. The site is steeped in Welsh history and legend. At its base stands the Church of St Mael and St Sulien dating back to the early medieval period and high above the town stands Glyndŵr's Seat said to be the site where the Welsh Hero, Owain Glyndŵr threw his dagger down in anger at the men of Edeyrnion.
| Breathtaking Views Today Coed Pen y Pigyn is a calmer place but it still provides visitors with breathtaking panoramic views of the Dee Valley and Vale of Clwyd. Have exciting adventures on the Dagger Trail and if you are very lucky see that elusive British mammal, the red squirrel. On the trails, you can see the Gorsedd stone circle, constructed in 1919 for the druid opening ceremony of the first National Eisteddfod to be attended by members of the public.
